ash;dt i
London 22.september 1791.<span style=3D'mso-spacerun:yes'>&nbsp; </span>Han=
 kom
fra en fattig familie, og m&aring;tte utdanne seg selv. 14 &aring;r gammel =
ble
han l&aelig;rling hos en bokbinder, og leste en mengde b&oslash;ker der i de
sju &aring;rene han var ansatt. Dette gjorde ham interessert i vitenskap og
spesielt elektrokjemi. Da han var 20 &aring;r, begynte han &aring; f&oslash=
;lge
kjemiforelesningene til Humphry Davy, som var en ber&oslash;mt forsker. Han=

snart Davys sekret&aelig;r, og fulgte han p&aring; en reise til kontinentet=

1813 &#8211; 1815. Men han ble ikke godtatt i sosieteten, og Davys kone

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Faraday var den f&oslash;rste som oppdaget forbindelsen
mellom elektrisitet og magnetisme. Han konstruerte en homopolar motor. Davy
likte d&aring;rlig at eleven etter hvert overgikk l&aelig;reren, og satte
Faraday til arbeid med optisk glass, som ikke f&oslash;rte til noen verdens
ting. F&oslash;rste etter at Davy d&oslash;de i 1827, kunne Faraday fortset=
te
arbeidet innen elektrokjemi. Her oppdaget han fenomenet induksjon i 1831, d=
er
han fant ut at det ble laget elektrisk str&oslash;m i en leder dersom et
magnetfelt og lederen beveget seg i forhold til hverandre. Han brukte dette=
 til
&aring; konstruere den f&oslash;rste dynamoen.</p>

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Han arbeidet ogs&aring; sterkt innen kjemi, der han op=
pdaget
stoffer som benzen og innf&oslash;rte begrepet oksidasjonstall. Han oppdaget
ogs&aring; lovene for elektrolyse, og populariserte begrepene katode, anode,
elektrode og ioner. I 1845 oppdaget han det som kalles Faradayeffekten.<span

<p class=3DMsoNormal>Michael Faraday er sett p&aring; som en av de aller
